MAY 24, 2001 NAC MEETING MINUTES |
|||||||||||||||
The Greenway NAC meeting was held at Conestoga Middle School in the commons. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 by Jim Persey. The Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue crew from Station 66 updated the NAC on several hazardous spills that occurred in the last 24 hours and were impacting the fire department. Plans were discussed to hire more fireman and upgrade most crews to 4 people instead of the present 3. Beaverton Police Sargent Steve Silvis explained that Officer Brian Blunt was scheduled to present the update from the Police department and he would be late due to an emergency. Local land use issues discussed included the 125th Ave/Brockman intersection, the Downing Drive Improvement, and the Transportation System Plan Update. Most of the discussion on the 125th Ave/Brockman intersection was concerning sound walls. There is a possibility of some sound walls on Greenway in the vicinity of the intersection, although a final decision has not been made. A group of citizens were concerned about a sound wall study that had been promised by city council for a section of the existing 125th Avenue. They wanted to be sure they were not forgotten about. The NAC chair will check on this issue. Concern was expressed about the planter strips on Downing Drive. The mayor had said on the Mayor's walk in May, 2000 that the city would maintain the planter strips. No maintenance has been done. The NAC chair will check with the city operations department. There were no new Neighborhood concerns. The CCI Committee report included information on the fall cleanup being held at Beaverton City Hall on June 2, 2001 from 8 am to 2 pm. Information was provided regarding the Vision West Project. This is a project convened by the Washington Board of County Commissioners to encourage greater collaboration among government agencies, schools, churches, businesses, community groups, non-profits and residents of Washington County. Police Officer Brian Blunt presented the latest Greenway NAC crime statistics. A discussion followed on some of the crime numbers and the kind of crimes that are occurring in the Greenway area. There was no other business brought before the NAC. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m. |
