07/11/2011 FANNO CREEK TRAIL CROSSING ON HALL - An 11-member SAC (Stakeholder Advisory Committee) has been formed to identify the two most viable and effective improvement options for this crossing. The 11-member SAC is composed of representatives from the Beaverton City Council, THPRD Board of Directors and two advisory committees, two bicycle groups, two Neighborhood Association Committees (Greenway NAC and Vose NAC), and other organizations. The committee is expected to meet four times over the next six months to review, evaluate and screen a range of solutions down to the two best options. The public is invited to attend these meetings. A comment period will be available. Four options are being considered; a bridge, a tunnel, rerouting the trail by the Fanno House and crossing Hall at Creekside with a new traffic light, and an at-grade crossing. A project website at www.fannocrossinghall.org is available and will have the SAC meeting schedule and be updated as appropriate. I am on SAC and will keep the NAC updated on the progress of the committee.
10/10/2010 Greenway NAC is now on Facebook. The NAC Facebook page is set up as an organization so it is a little different than a personal Facebook page. Click here to link to the Greenway NAC Facebook Page. You do not have to be signed up for Facebook to go to this page. However, if you are a Facebook user, you can "like" the page and your Facebook news feed will contain any new NAC updates. We could use some more people liking our page as we need 25 likes to be considered a legitimate organization. All of the Beaverton NACs are trying to setup Facebook pages and it may be a while before things are working correctly. The City of Beaverton's Facebook page is at http://www.facebook.com/CityofBeaverton. I will have more information on Facebook available at the November NAC meeting
10/10/2010 THPRD (Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District) has made a decision on the Fanno Creek Trail at Greenway Park. The Park District has taken input from the public, the Trails Advisory Committee, and staff and decided on a plan to connect the paved trail to the side walk at Hall Blvd. The approved plan will re-route the existing trail to Hall Blvd. with a temporary paved extension terminating near the sidewalk ramp at Hall Blvd. To see an illustration click here. No fence will be installed at this time. If weather allows, THPRD staff hopes to work with the City of Beaverton to complete the project this fall, otherwise it may be delayed until a drier time in the future.
08/23/2010 THPRD (Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District) will host a meeting to discuss a proposal to realign the Fanno Creek Trail at Greenway Park. The meeting will be on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 6:30 pm at the Conestoga Recreation and Aquatic Center in room 202. The proposal that will be discussed includes a minor trail alignment and a fence to guide users to the nearby sidewalk. Input on the crossing at Hall Blvd will not be on the agenda, as it is a separate project. For more information on this meeting please contact Dave Chrisman at 503-629-6360 or dchrisman@thprd.org

08/23/2008 The 125th extension issue described on 08/07/2008 did not come back before City Council on August 18th. It has been delayed until a later date.
08/07/2008 Mayor Rob Drake had informed residents along Green Lane in July that the 125th extension would not go down their street. On August 4th City Council reversed that decision. Read about the initial decision here and the reversal here. The 125th site has also been updated with this new information.
06/18/2008 Click here for more information on the 125th Avenue extension project changes as described below in the 03/24/2008 article. The 125th site has been updated with additional information.
03/24/2008 Beaverton traffic engineers are proposing changes in the design for the 125th extension. The new design would require less excavation along the entire length of the road as well as reroute the north end of the road to follow SW Green Lane, now a dead end, to an existing intersection with Hall Blvd. The lower amount of excavation is to be accomplished by lowering the design speed. This will also increase the amount of visual and noise pollution along the entire length of the extension for those close to the road as well as decrease the safety of the road. Also, the rerouting of the road along SW Green Lane will affect the residents of the Meeker Townhomes who will now have a major road about 20 feet from their doors with no hope of noise mitigation. The purpose of these changes is to save the city a few million dollars but the changes are upsetting the residents who live near the proposed road and feel the original design did the best job of mitigating the noise and visual affects of the road. The city is planning on several meetings to gather public comments.
03/24/2008 The habitat for Greenway Park is being improved with a THRPD plan called the Greenway Park Habitat Enhancement Project. It is funded through a partnership with Metro's Nature in Neighborhoods Program and Clean Water Services. Twenty acres of degraded habitat and turf along Fanno Creek will be transformed into healthy Oregon white oak woodlands, wetlands, and riparian areas. This will be accomplished through on-the-ground restoration, educational signs, and community-based site monitoring. For a map and additional details visit www.thprd.org/pdfs/facilities/GWoutreachinfo.pdf.
11/15/2007 There is a new online traffic count tool available from Beaverton. The Transportation Division collects traffic counts throughout the year on a variety of Beaverton streets. This new on-line tool is a great way to retrieve traffic count information. Click here to go to Traffic Counts Online web page.
OLD GREENWAY NAC NEWS
11/08/2006 The Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District is seeking support for $359,000 in federal grant funds through the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program to improve the safety of the Fanno Creek Trail as it crosses busy Hall Boulevard at Greenway Park. If these funds are awarded to the Park District, they will be used to complete a feasibility study to explore potential trail crossing options such as a pedestrian bridge over Hall Boulevard or routing the trail to cross at Creekside with the addition of a traffic signal at Hall and Creekside. Click here for more information.
12/08/2005 The Highway 217 Policy Advisory Committee (PAC) made a final recommendation on November 16, 2005 to widen the four-lane highway to six lanes, with one option implementing a variable priced express toll-lane in the additional lane and the other option would be six general purpose lanes with no tolls. Metro Council will make the decision on which option should go forward. There will be additional opportunities for public comment. Also included in both options are suggestions for interchange, arterial and transit improvements as well as bike and pedestrian trails. Check out www.hwy217.org for more information.
06/14/2005 The Traffic Commission voted on June 2, 2005 to reject all additional left turn lanes on SW Greenway. This decision means there will be no changes made to SW Greenway. See articles dated 02/16/2005, 03/08/2005, and 04/17/2005 for additional information.
04/20/2005 The date of the Traffic Commission hearing in the previous article has been changed from May 5th to June 2. The article has been updated.
04/17/2005 City Council voted to send the "Center Left Turn Lane on SW Greenway" decision by the Traffic Commission (see 02/16/2005 article) back to the Traffic Commission. The council felt that a left turn lane might be appropriate for some stretches of the road, but not near Davies Road and Steamboat Drive. The Traffic Commission will take up the issue at its June 2 meeting.
03/08/2005 The Traffic Commission voted on March 3, 2005 to approve a marked center left turn lane the entire length of SW Greenway.
02/16/2005 Traffic Commission Hearing! On Thursday March 3, 2005, at 7:00 PM the Beaverton Traffic Commission will hold a public hearing to hear comments on Issue No. TC 573: Center Turn Lane on SW Greenway. The Traffic Commission will consider a proposal to revise lane markings on Greenway. If the proposal is approved, the entire length of Greenway would have a marked center turn lane. 02/08/2005 On Thursday February 3, 2005, at 7:00 PM the Beaverton Traffic Commission held a public hearing to hear comments on Issue No. TC 571: Speed Zoning on SW Downing Drive. The Traffic Commission considered whether the speed limit should be revised on SW Downing Drive between Conestoga Drive and Greenway. The Beaverton Traffic Commission decided to keep the speed limit at 35 mph on SW Downing Drive between Conestoga Drive and Greenway. This was also the consensus of all the citizens that testified before the Traffic Commission.
01/16/2005 The Traffic Commission voted 4 to 3 to not install a traffic signal at Hall and Ridgecrest. The Traffic Commission was concerned about the impact on the already congested intersection at Hall and Greenway.
12/15/2004 In 2003, the Traffic Commission voted to add the intersection at Hall and Ridgecrest to the list of potential traffic signals at the number 4 position in the ranking of signal priorities. However, a final decision was not made on this signal. Funding is now available for the signal and the Traffic Commission will hold a public meeting and make a final decision on whether to use the available funding to install the traffic signal at Hall and Ridgecrest. The Traffic Commission hearing will be Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in City Hall Council Chambers. Written comments may also be submitted prior to the meeting. Address written comments to: City Traffic Engineer, PO Box 4755, Beaverton, OR 97076
07/23/2004 City Council approved the continuation of the left turn restrictions on SW Greenway into Albertson's driveway. The hours will stay the same (3:00 pm to 7:00 pm) but City Council decided that the restrictions would only be in force Monday through Friday.
05/31/2004 The appeal of the left turn restrictions on SW Greenway into Albertson's driveway will be held on Monday, June 14, 2004 by the Beaverton City Council. The City Council will meet at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers, Beaverton City Hall, 4755 SW Griffith Drive, Beaverton, Oregon. See news articles on 07/07/2003 and 06/04/2003 for background information. The appeal has been delayed by the construction of the 125th/Brockman/Greenway intersection and the effects of the construction on traffic counts that are a part of the appeal.
03/01/2004 Metro seeks comment on Highway 217 Study! Note: Survey is closed. Watch for information on upcoming surveys and open houses on the Highway 217 study. The study is being conducted to consider possible changes to the Highway 217 Corridor to accommodate the population growth that has occurred in Washington County since 1990.
