GREENWAY NEWSLETTER September 2007 Issue 47 NEXT NAC MEETING IN OCTOBER AT CONESTOGA MIDDLE SCHOOL The next meeting of the Greenway NAC will be on October 18, 2007 at 7:00 PM. We will meet in the Library at Conestoga Middle School. Our guest speaker will be the City of Beaverton Mayor Rob Drake. Rob will give us his vision for the city as well as answer any questions you may want to ask him. This meeting will also be our annual election meeting. There will not be a separate mailing for the October meeting agenda as there will be a postal patron postcard sent to all addresses in the NAC. I will have agendas available at the meeting. The agenda will also be posted on the NAC Website (http://greenwaynac.homestead.com) several weeks before the meeting. WASHINGTON SQUARE REGIONAL CENTER The part of Beaverton that is included in the Washington Square Regional Center is between Denny Road on the north and Scholls ferry Road on the south. The west boundary would roughly follow Fanno Creek. Beaverton has never rezoned this land from general commercial and campus industrial, zones that allow only one-story buildings. Metro's idea for this area is condominiums and eight-story office buildings in an urban village on the west side of highway 217. Most of the Washington Square Regional Center is in Tigard and Tigard has asked Beaverton to rezone Beaverton's part so that redevelopment would be possible. The Beaverton City Council has had a work session on the issue but has not reached a decision on what direction to take. I will ask Mayor Rob Drake to give us more information on this issue and give us some insight into the City Council's views at the October NAC meeting.
